My name is Lisa Jackson, M.A., CCC-SLP (Retired). I worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist for over 45 years in the educational and medical field.
I have always been dedicated to helping others. Along my life’s journey, I have taught children who have special needs, including visual impairments and severe communication difficulties. In addition, I have served as manager and therapist at several rehabilitation departments, including a skilled nursing facility, a brain injury re-entry program, and a long-term acute care hospital.
Currently, I am passionate about assisting those who wish to speak American English with a reduced accent. I have a love for communication and a special interest in spoken language. This has drawn my attention to the manner in which people from different parts of the world speak English. Many accents sound very beautiful. I know, however, that at times, individuals who are speaking American English as a second language, no matter how eloquent it may sound, feel that accented American English limits their effectiveness, and ultimately, their success in the professional arena.
That’s where I come in. I specialize in teaching strategies for speaking American English based on the Standard American and business communication speech model. These strategies help individuals to improve speech clarity during verbal exchanges, such as one-to-one conversations, public speaking, or in a leadership/management conversations.
A personalized program is developed, based on your particular needs and desired outcomes.
